Braved the slippery roads!
We just had our first pet-sitting experience with Four Paws, and we are VERY happy! My husband and I were gone over Christmas, and our usual pet-sitter was out of town. I researched Raleigh Pet Sitters online, and found very good reviews for Four Paws. I now know why, and Four Paws will be our regular pet sitter from now on! We have four dogs and three cats..... One of the cats is on end-of-life care, and I was worried about finding a pet sitter who would care enough to spend time with her and give her the attention she needs. The other two cats are long-haired and need to be brushed daily to prevent dreadlocks from forming. When we returned from our week-long trip, it seemed like we hadn't been gone at all! The dogs and cats were obviously well cared for, the long-haired cats were brushed and happy, and our end-of-life cat was doing great. A snowstorm that was supposed to be a dusting ended up dropping six inches of snow/ice while we were gone, and Helen braved the slippery roads and ice to still care for our pets twice a day. Finally a Honeymoon!
My husband and I were married in February 2011, but had been unable to take a honeymoon trip without the children. This past weekend was our "honeymoon".
We have two special dogs. Sara is an anxious German shepherd and Abby is a blind, diabetic dog with a hyperthyroid. Although I felt comfortable with Marie, leaving them alone for the first time was difficult. I would have been nervous anyway, but the destructive weather on Saturday worried me to death. Marie knew I would be concerned and updated me about my girls and our house each time she left my home. We were without power. So, Marie took Abby's insulin with her to ensure that it would stay cold. She exceeded my expectations and went above and beyond on a weekend filled with unexpected chaos.
I am very thankful for Marie, her professionalism, and her genuine love of animals.
I now know I can travel in peace knowing that my girls will be cared for.

Sheltie Babies
My husband and I had a trip planned to NYC, but needed to find a suitable sitter for our 4 Sheltie babies—Jack, Gracie, Emma, and Sam. I found Four Paws Pet Sitting Service through the Internet; since their Website is impressive and professional—with lots of information such as company policies, their varied services, and their sitters—I gave them a call, and was immediately impressed, so I gave them a try!
Four Paws set me up with Vanessa, who would be the one to stay overnight at my home with the pups and take them for walks during lunch while we were gone. Vanessa came by twice before our trip, which made me very comfortable. She also agreed to text me a couple of times a day to give me updates while we were traveling, which was great, since it kept me from being worried about the pups.
We had a mix-up in the first few hours of my trip—texting wouldn’t go through to my phone—but both Vanessa and Lois (the owner of Four Paws) called me as soon as they received my voicemails! Once we got the phone working, I received a text about 4 times per day, which really lowered my stress level. When I returned home, I found that Vanessa had left me a note with a brief update on the last couple of days. The house plus the dogs were just as I left them!
I will be using Four Paws and Vanessa again, and I have no worries—I know that I’m one of those “crazy dog people” who treat their pups as children! That being said, I would highly recommend Four Paws. They’re professional yet personal; I know my 4 pups can be a handful and somewhat intimidating, but Vanessa took charge immediately and was very calm. As a result, she put me at ease. Our Bengal Cat
“Our bengal cat, Gelato, is our baby, so we were really nervous about leaving him at home by himself over the Holidays! But Helen put all our worries to rest. During our consultation, she took meticulous notes, and when we returned, her daily written messages let us know that he was well taken care off. Gelato, normally very skittish of strangers, really warmed up to her and we are looking forward to having Helen cat sit for us again at Christmas. Ten Pets!
We wanted to write and sing our praises for Erin! To the ten pets in our home of all different shapes and sizes, Erin has become "Aunt Erin." Our furries love her as much as they do us! The first time she arrived, she knew each of their names at first sight just from making herself comfortable with our client information we had left via the web site. Every time we return, our dogs are exhausted and happy, our cats are purring, and the house is clean and quiet. When we first moved to the area, I was so nervous about leaving our "kids" with someone new—but I gave Erin a key to our home the first visit. She is such a warm and wonderful person and she enables us to enjoy our life while feeling relaxed about the rest of the family back home. Her report cards that she leaves at the end of each visit are what really take the cake- she lets us know exactly how everyone did while we were gone, and you can tell from the notes that she understands the individual personality of each pet in the home (no easy task!). Relaxed About Cats
As always, Erin was superb taking care of our precious cats. She left us notes everyday, and let us know how they were reacting to us being gone and to her coming over.
You have no idea how much more relaxed we are leaving now than we have ever been before. She is an absolute gem and we want to keep her coming over when we leave.
I even spoke with Erin about spending the night a couple of times when we leave for a week sometime the first of the year. Thank you so very much for a wonderful service.

Found On the Internet
I have been using Four Paws Pet Sitting Service on a regular and consistent basis for the past year and a half. Being new to the area at that time, I was not sure who to even call with the very serious duty of taking care of our "babies" when both my husband and I are out of town. I actually searched the internet and took a chance.
I first spoke with Lois, who I immediately felt comfortable with. She offered to come over for a visit and brought Carol along with her, who would be our "cat sitter". I liked them both and felt very comfortable handing them over a key and my trust on that first meeting.
I have not been disappointed. Carol is definitely an animal lover and goes the extra mile to ensure that they are well fed and taken care of. Though she only sees one of our cats on a regular basis (the other two are very skittish), I know that much attention and love is given in her short visits. She makes sure to leave a note daily and gets very excited when she is able to see either of the two "scaredy cats"! When we have been gone for an extended time, Carol makes sure to call and check in with us. She and Four Paws give us much peace of mind when we are away!
They are also very accommodating to schedules, whether it is a last minute trip or a visit that is cut short due to our ever changing work schedules...they give us one less thing to worry about!

While the Mom's Away . . .
Four Paws Pet Sitting—Lois and Jennifer—love animals and take wonderful care of my cats whenever I'm away. Bringing Our Dog on a Trip
We contacted Four Paws a few months before our travel plans brought us to Raleigh for a wedding. We had an unusual situation and Lois was wonderful to work with and said our situation really wasn't so unusual.
We normally don't take Soldier with us but we were going to the beach for a few days after the wedding. Our problem is that we were going to be staying in a hotel for the weekend and we couldn't leave Soldier there alone. The first night Josh, the pet sitter came and pet sat at the hotel and took Soldier for a long walk. He stayed there the whole time we were gone just like a babysitter! The next day while we were at the wedding Josh picked Soldier up and took him for the day. It was such a relief to know that he was being taken care of and not cooped up in the hotel. Cute Messages
Jan is wonderful with Bella! I can always tell she has had a great day with her because she is full of energy when I get home. Adopting A Puppy
I am
so grateful to have found 4Paws. They have really been there
for me! When I fostered then adopted my 6 week old puppy they
were there to assist me and helped to relieve a new mom's puppy
anxieties. They made the job of working full time and raising a
healthy, happy, well-behaved puppy possible. Then when my 2
older dogs came to live w/us they were right on time to help us
through the transition of a growing dog family and growing
responsibilities. Erin is so sweet and my pack loves her very

Long and Crazy Work Hours

parents tend to work long and crazy work hours so we're really happy
that they decided to trust Lois and her crew to take care of us when

How Could we replace Grandma?
We honestly could not think of anyone better to have care for our
pets than Four Paws. We have never kenneled our “girls” and always
left them with grandma for our vacations, etc. After moving too far
south to easily make it to grandma's we really struggled with whom
we should have care for them. After having met Lois, I can’t even
imagine anyone else taking better care of them. Our 2 dogs
absolutely love Lois and we are completely confident in the care she
gives them while we are away. Not only does she take them for walks
but also she truly gives them the attention they need when we cannot
give it to them. They also bring in our mail, turns on our lights,
etc. It is so nice coming home to the girls after Four Paws has
taken care of them. It’s as if we never left. We appreciate Four

Weekend Kitties
We regularly use Four Paws to come take care of our two kitties. We are often out of town on the weekend. Our two cats are on separate diets. They must be fed in separate rooms, one wet food and one dry. Four Paws takes care of all of their needs, even their particular diets. Our litter box is probably cleaner than what we left it as when we get home. Our mail is left for us, too. The kitties are always happy to see us, but I can tell they were well cared for while we were gone. I highly recommend Four Paws.
